You do allow for bill payments, gas/transportation, emergencies and small grocery purchases such as perishables during your month long spending freeze.
You cut all the rest out. No more coffee runs, no more shopping trips, no movies and dinner out on the weekends. The purpose of the spending freeze is to create more awareness in the way you spend money and to save money. During the spending freeze you will learn to live with less, make do with what you have and enjoy the simple things.
Is a spending freeze hard?
Do you shop a lot? If you answered yes than you may find a spending freeze hard, but all things worth working towards are hard at first. The spend zero challenge may be hard but you will gain so much in the challenge. You may even make or save some money during the challenge.
