Being able to freeze the extra food means we can take advantage of great sales. We live in berry country so every year we pick and freeze the fresh berries to use all year round. Another great reason to have a freezer is time saving freezer meals.

Call me crazy but I was surprised to learn you can freeze…
I honestly didn’t know you can freeze milk or eggs before I started researching my food freezing posts. Now that I know, we stock the freezer with an additional container of milk and milk alternative like coconut milk. I haven’t tried freezing eggs yet, our family seems to go through eggs before I can do anything with the extras. But it is great to know if there is a great sale on eggs I now have options.
Avocado, who doesn’t love avocado. But the down fall to avocado is it turns brown if you don’t use it up fast enough. Now you don’t have to worry because you can freeze the extras and there is no food waste.
Talking food waste, in our house we have a freezer bag we add the extra vegetable ends, meat bones and herbs to that we save. We freeze these and when we are ready to make bone broth or soup stock we have all the ingredients ready to go.
Freezing food to save money.
It is simple and easy to do. Even if you just freeze a loaf of bread or a stick of butter or your favorite meal you are still saving money. Purchase a freezer to suit your needs. There are some great options here, or buy a second hand unit just make sure it is running order.
Stockpile your freezer when things go on sale at the grocery store or when you decide to bake or prepare freezer meals. Every little bit helps.
