1. Stop trying to keep up
Be happy with what you have. The Joneses are broke. Multiple vacations, new wardrobes and lots of toys come with lots of debt.
2. Skip the drive thru
I know it is real easy just to pick up breakfast or lunch. But you can save over $25 a day by brown bagging it from home.
3. Invest in a good coffee maker
Do you love your morning coffee? You can save a ton of money brewing it at home and putting it in a travel mug and bring it to work. The key is to purchase a great coffee machine. Some even come with a wake up setting.
4. Learn to meal plan
I love meal planning it saves us so much money. Eating out was wrecking our budget. Now I know what’s for dinner and it is ready to go when I get home. No more wondering what to cook.
Keeping your partner and family in the loop financially is important. Whether it be sharing money saving goals or a weekly budget meeting. Communicate your needs and your wants.
6. Learn to have fun
The cheap way. Did you know you can have an amazing time without spending a dime?
7. Try something new
Do you buy the same brands of soap and bread every time you go shopping? Try something new the next time you go shopping opt for the brand on sale or the generic option.
8. How do you plan your holidays?
Do you staycation? Or do you get a group together and camp? Or do you travel to a new city and stay in hotels? Do you check out hotel deals and Airbnb before you book?
9. Drink more water
I know it sounds boring, but drinking more water instead of juice or pop will save you money. Add some lemon or some peppermint to flavor it up a bit.
10. Turn it off
Turn off the lights when you leave the room. Unplug things you aren’t using. Small amounts of electricity add up to big savings over time.
11. Get out and stretch your legs
Skip the gym and the monthly fees. Go for a walk or hike a local trail. Try working out at home.
12. Go meatless
Have you ever tried meatless Monday? Or cooking vegetarian meals several times a week? Meat is expensive, save some money and opt for beans and rice or vegetarian once or twice a week.

Turn off all the unnecessary costly apps on your phone or tablet. Cancel the magazine subscriptions. Skip the meals out.
