There is no limit really to what can be placed on a charcuterie board. You are only limited by the board size and the number of people you are feeding.
When To Serve A Charcuterie Board?
A traditional charcuterie board is generally served for an appetizer or in a picnic type setting. Or matched with wine or a signature cocktail for evening snacks.

Untraditional charcuterie collections like brunch boards or dessert boards or chocolate boards would all be served at different courses throughout a meal or in replace of it.

What Type Of Board Do You Use For A Charcuterie?
Any form of wooden cutting board can be used to serve charcuterie. I have also seen marble and beautiful silver trays used to serve charcuterie food. Larger celebration type charcuterie may use a grazing table and other separate food serving trays to compile a larger charcuterie food display.

Most boards will be an elegant compilation of meats, cheeses, olives, crackers and other items sliced and placed for easy access. Meat slices will be placed folded in halves or thirds or piled in shavings for easy picking.
