Saving Money On Groceries

Have your grocery bills increased?  Groceries are one of the main expenses for an average family.  Finding ways to decrease your grocery expenses are important.

Here are some practical money saving tips to help you decrease your grocery costs and save money on your overall household expenses.

5 Proven Ways To Save Money On Groceries:

1. Shop Online

Shopping online is great.  You can select all the items you need, choose a pick up time and all the shopping is done for you. Most stores will do this for free if you do store pick up.

Saving money with online shopping:

  • You can track your spending
  • Alter your order to meet your budget
  • See the full array of generic and brand name options

Did you know you can have your groceries delivered right to your door. All your favorite stuff coffee, pasta, protein powder and more.

Why go shopping when you can have all your favorites delivered right to your door with Amazon and usually for way less than the grocery store price. If you have an Amazon Prime Account (if not, get a free 30-Day trial right here). Save even more money on all your Amazon and other online purchases with Rakuten. 2. Go Meatless

There is nothing wrong with cooking one or two vegetarian meals a week to help you save money. Besides there are some amazing vegetarian recipes out there.

Meat is one of your more costly grocery items, where produce, beans and rice are on the cheap side.  Opting to go meatless for a few meals will definitely help in decreasing your grocery budget.

3. Skip the prepackaged foods, opt for homemade meals

Cooking with ingredients and creating homemade meals is a great way to save money. Homemade meals don’t have to be elaborate, simple 5 ingredient dishes will work. Instant Pot or slow cooker meals work great if you’re in a time crunch.

5. Shop local and in season

Shopping your local farmers markets, butchers and independent stores could help you save a ton of money.

Also shopping in season and working your meal plans around what is available fresh will help you save money.  A prime example of this is fresh strawberry prices in Summer versus fresh strawberry prices in Winter.

Another great way to save money is to make friends with your local farmer.  Find out what’s available at a cheaper price and stock up.

If you have room in your freezer a great way to save on meat is by purchasing 1/4 or 1/2 animal cuts.  Split a 1/4 cow with a friend to increase your savings. Discover all the amazing things you can freeze to save money.
