Additions we made to our birthing bag
When we had our first child I added massage lotion so my husband could rub my back. I also added essential oils to help me relax. We packed a small hand sized stuffed turtle that I could squeeze during contractions as well. These were all items unique to me.
As we approach the delivery of our second child we will again pack massage lotion, essential oils and a small item I can squeeze during delivery. In addition this time around I will pack more snacks for my husband as delivery ran long last time.
I may pack my Ipad this time around as well to keep myself and others occupied during down moments.
I’m not sure if you can ever be fully prepared but you can try to be
Babies do have a mind of their own and will come in due time. Ensuring you have a small suitcase packed with all your birthing essentials is key to ensuring a smoother arrival.
It is recommended that you pack your birthing bag two to three weeks before your delivery date. Ninety percent of babies will not come on their due date and will arrive before or after the suggested delivery date. If you have any questions check with your doctor.
