Have you ever stood in the grocery store and wondered how do I save money and still provide great meals for my family?
Believe me I have been there, tired and exhausted after a long work day with grocery list in hand. You check the prices of your usual grocery items and they are a bit higher than usual. Your grocery budget doesn’t go as far as it use too.
It’s time to get creative and swap out a few of your usual items for a cheaper alternative and save.
I have created a simple list of items that you can buy instead of their higher priced alternatives. In swapping items you will save greatly at the checkout and hopefully come in under budget on your shopping for the month.
Another great way to save on groceries is to meal plan. $5 Dinners is amazing at providing low cost meal ideas, budget and freezer friendly meal plans. The $5 Dinner Meal Plan saves money and time, try it out for FREE today.
Now that you have your meal plan ideas let’s get to the Buy This, Not That & Save Money List.

Ethnic Foods Western Foods
I added ethnic foods and western foods to the list because as a family we have found that buying meats, spices and produce at the local ethnic market is about 15% cheaper than buying it at the grocery store. We have also found that ethnic meals use “ingredients” like rice and beans where western meals call for higher priced meats and produce.
The above list is simply that a list and it reflects our “buy this, not that” alternatives. You may have your own alternatives and ideas that help you save money. A friend of ours only shops big box stores and case lots and saves money that way.
Groceries can be expensive, any way you save is a good way. Have an amazing day everyone.
