1. Have a picnic
Pack up all your favorite sweet and savory treats, grab a blanket and have a picnic.
2. Go for a walk
You only have twenty minutes while the kids are in an activity. Grab your partner and go for a walk, catch up and enjoy the company.
3. Cup and conversation
Hit up your favorite coffee shop for a coffee and conversation. Or make a great dessert at home. Sit on the patio and enjoy a great coffee, dessert and conversation after you have tucked the kids into bed.
4. Workout together
Maybe both of you like to play tennis, or go to the gym or going for a run. Schedule a time and do the activity together.
Who doesn’t love a massage? And you don’t even have to leave the house. Grab a bottle of massage oil and give each other a relaxing massage. Add more romance with candles and flowers.
6. Movie night
Pop some popcorn, grab your favorite movie or series and relax on the couch.
7. Open houses
I never knew people did this till we were house shopping. Go and checkout the local open houses to get ideas on how to update your home.
It’s like a real version of the Fixer Upper. You and your spouse get to comment on what you like or don’t like and it doesn’t cost you a dime.
8. Romantic dinner
Tuck the kids in to bed and cook up one of your favorite meals together. Pair it with your favorite wine or beverage of choice. Maybe add in a great dessert.
Set the table and enjoy some alone time. You could even add in a massage or movies afterwards.
9. Go camping
This is on the top of my husbands list. Plan an over night camping trip. Send the kids to Grandmas. Get out and enjoy the fresh air and nature.
10. Happy hour
Do you have a favorite bar or restaurant in town that offers great appetizers during happy hour? Plan your date around it. Cheap beer, cheap eats and great company.
11. Go to the antique store and window shop
Where we live people will browse the flea markets, estate sales, vintage stores and antique stores. You can find some of the coolest things right in your own backyard.
12. Scavenger hunt
Plan a scavenger hunt with a bunch of other couples. You all have a list of items you need to get in a certain amount of time. Or maybe you plan an amazing race with activities and pit stops.
13. Do a food tour
Maybe you have a bunch of local farmers markets, breweries or wineries. Do a tour and try something new.
14. Star gazing
Get out of the city and find a spot you can see the stars. Spread out a blanket, relax and gaze.
15. Go on a nature hike
Maybe you like to bird watch. Or maybe your partner is really into the outdoors. Spread your wings, get out and investigate. Challenge yourself, see how far you can hike or what you can find.
16. Photo night
Take photos of each other or go take photos of your city.
17. Paint night
This is a big thing locally. You do a painting project and it is paired with food, wine, beer or coffee. You get to keep the painting or project and you get to try something new.
18. Local concerts
Maybe your local drama program is putting on a play or there is an open mic night at the local coffee shop. Get out and checkout some new talent.
19. Take a class
Dance class, sculpting or yoga? Your options are limitless.
20. Be a tourist in your own town
Go checkout the sites. Watch along the beach. Take in the museum.
21. Replay your favorite date
Maybe you have a favorite spot or favorite activity. Plan arrange and go.
Date night doesn’t have to cost hundreds
In fact most of the ideas above are free or cost less than twenty dollars. If dinner and a movie is your favorite dating go to swap it up a bit.
Cook your favorite dinner at home, add in a dessert, pop some popcorn and watch a great movie.
Or maybe have a themed dinner night and end it with a candle lite bubble bath and a massage. Your options are endless.
