Simple Frugal Living
You don’t need the best of everything to be happy. You can have an amazing time without spending a dime. Making simple lifestyle choices can save you huge amounts of money.
How To Start Living A More Frugal Lifestyle:
1. Is the dryer running?
Turn the dryer off and hang your clothing to dry using a clothesline or clothing rack. A dryer consumes a large amount of energy and money to run.
2. Is lunch or dinner ready?
Cooking meals at home and skipping the drive thru or dinner out can save you huge amounts of money.
Think about it. If you buy lunch everyday Monday to Friday and decide to switch it up and brown bag your lunch. You could be saving $50 to $100 a week.
3. What are you doing Friday night?
If it included dinner out and some entertainment we may have a better option for you. Did you know you can have an amazing night out or family fun weekend without spending a dime?
Yes it is true. Picture this, a picnic by the lake, a romantic stroll around the park followed by a massage or cup and conversation.
Or as a family what about a scavenger hunt, or playtime in the park, followed by a homemade taco and sundae bar. Ending with movies and popcorn.
4. Are you trying to keep up?
Do you find yourself trying to keep up with the Joneses? Buying the latest things? Comparing yourself?
It’s time to stop. You are amazing as you. You don’t need to compare, keep up or replicate. You are unique – celebrate it.
The Joneses are broke. You know all those beautiful pictures and holidays? They are on credit, built on a pile of debt.
5. Start planning
Make a plan with your money. Know what is coming in and what is going out. Think about the future. Where do you want to be in five years?
6. Keep it, save it, reuse it
If it is still in working order why replace it. Do you really need the newest, latest, coolest model? Or will your current model still do the same job?
A penny saved is a penny earned. Grab a jar and save all your loose change.
7. Brew it at home
The average drive thru or sit down latte costs $5. If you brew your morning cup at home and bring it to work in a travel mug you will save $25 a week.
8. Turn the heat down and grab a blanket
Save yourself on electrical costs by adjusting the thermostat and adding a blanket to the bed or cuddling up with one on the couch.
