Have you thought about it? Have you wondered about it?
I’m talking about shopping for your groceries online. What would you do with all the extra time? The average person spends anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour grocery shopping and standing in line. How much is your time worth? Could grocery shopping online really save you money?
Online Grocery Shopping
What would you do with an extra pair of hands? What if you could just point and click and your groceries were ready for you? No more dragging the kids through the grocery store. No more rush shopping before dinner. No more grocery headaches. Doesn’t this online shopping thing sound great.
Locally we have two stores that offer the online grocery shopping service. You simply sign in, point and click and add the groceries you need to a virtual cart. Then you choose to have your groceries delivered or to pick them up at a designated time. Store pick up is free, delivery is a small fee.
To be honest I have always thought about online grocery shopping but always passed it up. Well not anymore.
Saving Money On Groceries By Shopping Online
First I want to say I saved an hour by shopping online and it didn’t cost me anything… Nothing. I picked up my grocery order at the store so there was no fee for the personal shopping experience. I ended up with an extra hour to spend with my family instead of rushing around the grocery store or saying NO to the additions my family like to add to the cart. It felt so weird to not have to “go shopping” and the result was relaxing. I had all this extra time.
How much is your time worth? What could you do with all the extra time you don’t have to spend shopping? Think of all the value you could add to your family.
I saved a huge amount of money by grocery shopping online.
As you shop online you see the dollar value of your order go up or down with the online calculator depending on what you add to your cart. So shopping online allows you to keep your grocery budget in check. Where if you were shopping in the store you would have to carry a calculator to keep track of your item to item spending.
You still get to redeem flyer sales, store sponsored sales, coupons and point redemption sales while shopping online which is a bonus. Our store also offered a $10 off coupon for shopping online over a certain dollar amount. Which was great – automatically save $10, save an hour in time and I came in under budget. Shopping online was a win, win.
Being frugally minded I selected the option to save more money shopping online by being open to trying new brands if our selected item was out of stock. In selecting this I saved an additional $10 this shopping trip and we are going to try a few new things. Who knows these cheaper brands may become our new products of choice. Be open to saving money, by being open to try new things.
The personal shopping experience.
How does having a personal shopper sound? Someone who individually selects your groceries, packages them with care and loads your groceries in your vehicle for you? Or delivers your groceries to your home? And what if this didn’t cost you any extra or a small fee depending on your store or delivery fees. I think it sounds great. Honestly I was taken back by the whole personal shopping experience. It was relaxing, non-stressful and very different from the old school shop, pay, load and unload. I will definitely choose the online shopping experience in the future.
Do your grocery stores offer online grocery shopping?
If you are looking for a time saving, budget friendly grocery shopping experience I suggest looking into online grocery shopping. Inquire with your local grocery stores to see if the service is offered. If your local grocery stores offer the service see which store offers more money saving options or options that fit your needs. Check online and see what options are available for you. If your local grocery store doesn’t deliver and you are still interested in that option Amazon may have options that suit your needs.
Have an amazing day,
