Yogurt is a must have ingredient to have in the fridge.
It’s great on its own or add a bit of fruit and granola for an amazing snack. But the uses for yogurt go beyond your favorite afternoon snack.
Yogurt can be used in baking, making and more. Did you know you can use yogurt in a face mask? I didn’t until I did some research.
What is your favorite flavor?
Do you prefer strawberry or orange? Or are you more a whipped yogurt mousse type? I keep it simple. I enjoy plain Greek yogurt with a swirl of honey.
Yogurt now even comes in a couple of non-dairy varieties. I keep a coconut milk version in our fridge for my son.
If you are looking for a quick high protein snack mix one scoop of protein powder with a cup of yogurt, add cocoa powder, fruits and seeds. Stir and enjoy.
The amazing versatility of yogurt.
We all know it as a great snack or breakfast dish or a great additive to smoothies. But have you ever tried using yogurt in any other way?
You can add yogurt both the dairy or non-dairy variety to sauces or soups to add a creamy flavor and texture. It can also be added to desserts or egg based dishes to add fluffiness.
Yogurt is also great in marinades especially with poultry and fish dishes. If you have ever made overnight oats you may have used a recipe that asked you to add a scoop of yogurt.
I will let you in on my frugal way of using yogurt.
You can do this with both the dairy and non-dairy variety. I usually keep a large container of plain yogurt in the fridge and use it for everything. But the secret is my husband doesn’t know he is eating yogurt.
I use yogurt in replace of sour cream with nachos or in sauces. I have even made homemade ice cream using yogurt. Dollar for dollar, flavor for flavor it is a great substitute.

The uses for yogurt go beyond your favor dishes.
Yogurt has been used for years in homemade and store-bought facials. The lactic acid will improve your skins clarity. It has also been used to treat psoriasis.
Are you looking for a natural based deep conditioner? Grab a tub of full fat Greek yogurt and apply it to your hair.
Did you forget the sunscreen and get a bit sunburned? Apply a thin layer of yogurt to the inflamed area to help reduce the swelling and redness.
Another cool way you could use yogurt that I have never tried but I have heard about is using yogurt as finger paint. Choose a thicker variety and add food coloring.
Part of me wishes my son was younger because this is a much more natural and simpler recipe than we would have made. You don’t even really need paper just a tray or plastic surface and you have some fun times.
We all know the great health benefits of yogurt.
The probiotic in yogurt are great for your digestive system and keeping you regular and happy. If you are having trouble sleeping try eating yogurt.
The protein will fill you up in case it was hunger cravings that woke you up. But the probiotic will help settle your digestive tract and create a happy bacteria environment and help your mood.
Did you know you can make yogurt at home?
Now if you are dairy free don’t worry you can still make amazing yogurt and it will cost pennies in comparison to the $6-$7 they charge in the store for non-dairy yogurt.
Here are some great yogurt recipe books containing both regular and dairy free recipes:
