Cold and flu season is upon us.
With back to school and extra curricular activities in full swing so is the spread of germs.
This means the return of sore throats, runny noses, sneezing, coughing and congestion. Get a jump on protecting your family.
Keep the germs at bay.
I think it is every moms wish to make it through cold season with no colds or sniffles at all. And it can be done.
Please note I am not a health care professional, just a mom sharing my opinions and items we use in our home.
Help keep the germs at bay by washing your hands on a regular basis, after using the bathroom and after getting dirty.
In our home liquid hand soap is the easiest option to get the the boys to wash their hands after all their dirty deeds.
I also keep a small hand sanitizer in my purse for those clean it in a pinch situations. Like when one of the boys hands mom a well used facial tissue.
We have all been there.
Stay ahead of the cold and flu this year.
By stocking up on vitamin c supplements. Eating a clean and healthy diet and including lots of water. I read the other day we are suppose to drink half our body weight in water in ounces.
So if you weigh 150 lbs you are suppose to drink 75 ounces of water a day. This may seem like a lot of water but in reality our body is mainly made up of water.
In order to keep everything working opt to skip the coffee and juice and add another cup of water to your day. I have been considering getting one of these water bottles to help in my water consumption and that of my boys.
In may sound crazy but another great way to stay ahead of the colds this year is to get out doors and get your blood pumping. Step out and enjoy the fresh air, go for a walk and enjoy nature.
Exercise and fresh air is good for our body and getting away from the television screen or laptop is as well.
Prepare your home.
In the case that cold and flu strike your home this year be prepared. Stock up on all the cold and flu essentials so that you can rest and get rid of the germs as fast as possible.
Stock your cabinet with the following:
If you do get sick or your children get sick stay home. Keep the bugs out of the office and the schools. Stop the flu cycle in its tracks.
Last year when my son was sick we found these great throat lozenges packed with vitamin c in the shape of a lollipop. Now we keep them stocked all year round for the just in case.
They are packed with vitamin c so at the first sign of a sniffle they come out.
Some of you maybe into the more natural approach to combat colds and flu.
If this is the case make sure you stock up on essential oils, coconut oil, vitamins, greens and more.
A great addition we added to our home was an essential oil diffuser. This allows us to diffuse natural oils into our home and help add moisture to the air during those dry indoor winter months.
Be prepared with a plan to help you combat this years cold and flu season.
Have an amazing day,
Cynthia
